Computing for the Housebound
We are able to offer the loan of a second-hand laptop computer, on a short-term basis, to people taking part. We have a number of volunteer mentors who will provide help to set up the computer and offer ongoing assistance and tuition when required. We plan to loan the computers for about six weeks to allow the housebound person to decide if the purchase of a computer will benefit them. Our tutors will help with setting up broadband and purchasing a computer.
We would like to hear from more housebound people, or their carers, who would like to take advantage of the scheme. For more information please phone Anne-Marie on 01952 211410.

British Gas Giving Away £50
British Gas is offering £50 payments to customers who pass on the names of householders who could qualify for free insultation. Energy companies are obliged to offer free loft or cavity wall insulation to "vulnerable" households - where members are on low incomes (usually less than £16,000) or claiming income-related pension or disability benefits. British Gas is now encouraging friends, family and neighbours to pass on details of homes that may qualify - so it can will meet the Government's target of providing free insulation in more than half a million homes. Those providing details of "needy" homes will collect the £50 payment, with a further £50 being paid to those receiving the service.
